A shared space has exactly two roles — nothing in between. Who can do what is simple by design.

Owner

The owner is the person who created the space. Only the owner manages it: rename the space, hand out and regenerate the invite code, remove members, archive or delete the space, and turn the public link on or off.

Member

A member is someone who joined by invite code. A member works with the money side of the space on an equal footing with the owner — adding and editing transactions, categories, budgets and goals. What a member cannot do is manage the space itself (the owner-only actions above).

Read-only access

There is no separate "viewer" role. If you want to let someone only look without joining and without an account, use the read-only public link instead — it is covered in its own article. Everyone who is actually a member can edit.

Leaving

A member can leave a space at any time; the owner can remove a member. In both cases that person's own accounts and personal transactions stay with them — only access to the shared space is lost.
